Come to a PTO meeting!

Dear Julian Parent:

First of all, we want to say, "Thank You!" We understand the hard work it takes to be a middle-school parent—conferences, homework checks, and late nights celebrating our children's achievements at concerts and athletic events, and more. Being a middle-school parent can seem like a thankless job (particularly if we expect the thanks to come from our middle-schooler!) So from all of us on the PTO Executive Board, we want you to know your efforts are noticed, and appreciated.

We also want to let you know what you have done, through the PTO (since you, as a parent, are a member of this organization), to further help your child in his or her academic journey. These would not have been possible without donations to the PTO:

  • Classroom and Teacher Support—Provided classroom supplies reimbursement; also funded the purchase of iPod Touches loaded with educational apps, so students have access to interactive learning opportunities.
  • Performing Arts—Purchased guitars for new guitar elective and costumes and workshops for day choir's participation in CAST musical; replaced microphones and enhanced the auditorium sound system; purchased and maintained band/orchestra equipment and funded transportation and field trips.
  • Athletics—Purchase equipment and supply transportation and overnight stay to State meets for Julian's championship teams.
  • Academics—Support annual academic competitions and provide support to the Oak Park Education Foundation and six other local programs that benefit many Julian scholars, on architecture, robotics, and beyond.
  • Library Support Fund—Support classroom initiatives through purchases of needed nonfiction, fiction, and poetry books and multimedia supplies.
  • Honor Roll Celebrations—Honor students' academic excellence with a celebratory breakfast with families, friends, and faculty.
  • 8th Grade Graduation—Celebrating our 8th graders' achievements.

Upcoming projects will also need your help, including the renovation of Julian's "front yard." Together with the school, the PTO is working on a plan to make the school grounds attractive, useful, and fun for our children.

We know you can't participate in every fundraiser and hope you find this a convenient opportunity to give an important gift to our children. A donation of just $10 or $25 per student would go a long way to help the PTO continue to fund our children's future through support of teacher initiatives, technology, athletics, and academics. Thank you again for your continued support of the PTO and Julian Middle School.
